Students work closely with mentors from industry to learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and business skills that they will be able to use later in life. There are two competition seasons:
The OCCRA season is student driven with Mentor oversight to ensure safety. There is a restrictions on what tools can be used as well. This season may also include students from the Engineering Technology classes at the high school that are curious about robotics.
The FIRST season is a partnership between mentors and students. They will work side-by-side to complete the tasks. The goal is to have students do as much as possible, but mentors, unlike OCCRA, will be helping to teach concepts and techniques needed to complete the tasks.
