2014 FIRST - Aerial Assist
Game Format
- Compete on a flat 27-54 foot field with a lighting truss suspended 5 feet about the center of the field
- 2 Alliances with 3 teams each
- Matches are 2 minutes and 30 seconds long
- Collect and Score 12 inch balls in goals
- Points are award for using multiple robots to move the ball down the field and into the goals
- The game is broken down into two periods: Autonomous and Teleop
Autonomous Period
- Game begins with a 10 second Autonomous Period
- Robots operate independent of driver inputs
- Each robot may begin with a ball
- Points are scored during this period for:
- Moving into the zone during
- Scoring balls into the goal
- Bonus points for scoring in the "hot" goal
Teleop Period
- Drivers control the robot
- Balls can only be entered onto the field once the autonomous balls are scored
- Balls are cycled one at a time
- Points are awarded for throwing balls over the truss
- Catching balls thrown over the truss
- Scoring balls in the high and low goals
- There are large bonus points for "assists" which are earned when a robot has possession of the ball in a zone and the ball moves downfield.
